The first sight of the Kings Fairway is a bit off-putting as it looks a bit like a bungalow gone berserk. Inside however it is a very comfortable Ember Inn with their usual sort of modern furnishings, nicely broken up into different areas. Despite a strong emphasis on food, real ale is also well featured with a good and changing range of beers alongside the usual suspects. Beer quality is also good (Cask Marque listing). Outside there is a patio-type area and a very large car park.

KINGS FAIRWAY - is still...the best pub in Ashford! They've just had a major re-vamp, having been closed for a week for work & refurb. You may notice the new round wooden tables (inside) and new furnishings, shelving, ornaments, etc. Some money has been spent smartening up the place. Peroni is their best lager on draught, they also do Becks 4per cent. 'Doom Bar' was also selling well. Their Sunday night wine offer still stands, £8 for any bottle of wine after 5pm on a Sunday! I have to comment on their food... I was disappointed with my steak last time, THE most expensive meal on their menu, and they made a hash of it!! TWICE...!! I will not be ordering steak here anymore. Since then, I've been back and ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which was OK I suppose, but again disappointing when accompanied by boring crisps and one piece of lettuce and a small onion ring, that was advertised as a "salad"..!! FOOD = DISAPPOINTING :o( Apart from that, I still like the pub...because, as 'Roger' below helpfully points out...there's precious else competition in the neighbourhood! 6/10

Well, what can I say about the good ol' Kings Fairy...!! I like it. It's the BEST pub in Ashford. And Roger Button has given a fair overall review. The 'KF' must be benefitting from the lack of pubs in Ashford high st., or near the train station. But it does lack character, and I feel like a 'stranger' whenever I venture in, and its always different staff, none seem to stay there long. On a good note, they do have regular Quiz Nights (I think its Wednesday+Sunday nights...) Tuesday is curry night, £5 or £6 for one drink and a curry. And Sundays after 6pm you can get ANY bottle of wine in the pub for £8. That's useful to know. Sometimes on a Friday night you won't be able to get a seat in KF, its that popular. The decor is unusual, and not everyone's cup of T.E.A. And if you take your own 'atmo' with you when you go in, you should have a fine evening! :o) As I said, the best pub in TW15.
