A traditional, street corner pub handily located for the station, it’s one of only a handful of proper pubs in the vicinity with the majority of nearby establishments being rather trashy bars of one sort or another.
It’s essentially an L-shaped pub divided in to a few different areas. To the right is a smallish, quite cosy room with a piano and guitar whilst the larger room to the left has a pool table at the rear but this is screened from the rest of the pub by some wooden partitioning that included some attractive stained glass. There was also more stained glass in the porch. Decor wise, the ceiling has been painted a deep red whilst there is some floral wallpaper on the upper part of the walls with dark brown paint below. The flooring is wooden boards with have been worn almost smooth over the years. There was both a projector and an old TV in the corner, although neither were in use on our visit. Darts is obviously taken seriously with two side by side boards and a third in the small courtyard at the rear, and there were a number of trophies and shields on display. There is also apparently a skittle alley and a function room, although we did not investigate these.
Beers on tap were Butcombe, Bombardier and Timothy Taylor Landlord, whilst ciders were from Thatcher’s with both the Dry and Gold varieties.

Sky Sports 3D on every week for all sports, football, golf tennis, you name it. Great pub with well kept beers, smoking area, pool table, pool teams, crib, darts and skittles played weekly. Best of all - FREE jukebox!
