Blackthorn _ left this review about Browns Stateside
As it’s name suggests, this is more of a diner than your regular pub, but you can nonetheless just pop in for a pint without eating and they do stay open after they have stopped serving food. There is very much of an American theme to the pub and this included numerous flags, a New York cityscape on one wall, an eagle perched on top of a bell, a life size model of Elvis and a Red Indian and even four doors from a yellow cab hung on the wall.
The layout of the pub is fairly long and narrow with entrances at both ends whilst the corner bar counter contained a selection of muffins and such like. Décor wise, there were wooden boards on the floor that had been painted a very dark red whilst the walls were a mixture of maroon and cream along with some brown wood panelling and partitions.
The menu offered a selection of American themed dishes such as burgers, ribs, mac ‘n’ cheese, Cajun chicken, New York combo, etc., and these were mostly priced around £8 or so. If you were feeling particularly hungry you could opt for the Man v Stateside at £29.95 which included rump steak, barbeque pulled pork, a rack of ribs, chicken breast and buffalo wings as well as various cheeses, onion rings and sauces.
There were no ales on tap unfortunately, real or otherwise, although on the plus side they did have Thatcher’s Gold cider. There was nothing really wrong with this place and the barmaid was friendly enough, but it’s not really a proper pub and I can see little reason to visit unless you were going to check out the food.
