The bar in this place is right at the top of the building in a single room that is a bit like an old barn. At least you don't have to go all the way back downstairs to get to the toilets! The floor is wooden and there are some old Home brewery pub signs along with other bric-a-brac. It wasn't that busy on my Saturday afternoon visit.
The bar has eleven hand pumps which had rwo unused, a cider, five Fernandes beers, Abbeydale Piracy, Revolutions Clash and Ossett Yorkshire Blonde. I had a couple of Fernandes Double Chinned IPA (£3.35) both of which were a bit warm, the first more so. Apart from that minor niggle they were fine.
This is clearly one of the destination ale venues in Wakefield. It's GBG 2018 listed.

As with Mr. Camra below, there are plenty of accurate descriptions here so I'll limit myself to listing the ales and noting that the pub signs which decorate the walls work especially well. I was very taken with the large Tally-Ho sign.
Inevitably Fernandes dominate the beer list with the following: Folklore, 60 Shilling, Pekko and Black Voodoo. The guest list comprised: Ossett Yorkshire Gold, Wimbledon Common, Milestone Summer Lovin, Raw Edge IPA and Elland 1872 Porter.
The Pekko was excellent, in great condition and too good to be tempted elsewhere although a sip of Mr. Aleandhearty's Malt Shovel Mild, for which the Black Voodoo made way, was enough to convince me that it was one of the best milds, if not the best, I've tried.
A super boozer which will be very high on my list the next time I have the good fortune to be visiting Wakefield.

Multiple desriptions below save me the need to add to them. We only visited the top floor bar which I thought was very comfortable. 11 handpumps including a real cider. My pint was in excellent nick and was served quickly and efficiently by the bar staff. I'll be visiting here again next time I'm in Wakefield.
