After our very terse welcome at the Victoria in Woodham, we were pleased to receive a much warmer welcome at this traditional pub in Hersham.
We had the opportunity to walk through the public bar to actually take a peak at the interior of this place. The landlord directed us to tables in the small garden at the rear.
Crop Circle or Spitfire is the ale choice here. I opted for the former. We were also offered sandwiches.
This is a simple and traditional pub and is all the better for it. The other 4 customers were all elderly folks. Two men were sat at one table, with their partners together with their dog at a separate table. They were as friendly as the owners.
Whilst there was nothing special about the beer choice here, the atmosphere felt just right and this was easily my favourite of the 4 Surrey pubs we sampled today.

The Briclayers is quite a large two bar pub, in fact it suprised me how roomy it was inside compared to the impression I got on approach to the exterior. Very much a traditional public/saloon bar setup, the saloon being the more busy on my visit,I chose to use the public bar which houses two pool tables,a fruit machine and a couple of TVs, not on while I was there. Three beers available, Doom Bar, Spitfire and Hogsback T.E.A.,so not overly adventurous. Nice enough pub though and the best I've been to in Hersham.

Enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch there, good value and quality.
Unfortunately I will never go back there, and I will do my best to ensure that none of my local friends do either, as they refused to serve me a glass of water with the meal, although we had paid over £40 for food and drinks. Apparently this is the policy of the landlord, who was not there for me to tell him my view on this.
Bottled water is extremely harmful to the environment and an unnecessary affectation. If I choose to drink tapwater I strongly resent someone refusing to provide me with it.
