A traditional looking pub located slightly off the beaten track perhaps, but nonetheless just a short stroll from the heart of Clifton village and adjacent to a couple of well-regarded restaurants. A large beer garden is a popular draw in the warmer weather.

Internally it’s mostly just one open plan, and not especially large, room although the wall that has presumably been knocked through at some point does segregate the front and rear areas slightly. There is also apparently a further bar and function room upstairs, although we did not investigate this. Décor wise it’s quite traditional with wooden shutters on the windows, sanded wooden boards on the floor, dark blue paint on the walls with some contrasting yellow on the timberwork, and a whitewashed ceiling, as well as the obligatory horse brasses. A stone fireplace was off to one side, although it’s a shame that the fire wasn’t lit on a very cold January evening. Elsewhere were some art deco style light fittings, a number of German beer tankards on a shelf and some colourful artwork on the walls which looked as though it may have been for sale. A couple of TV’s were also up on the wall showing sports channels which seemed a little out of place, but fortunately the volume was off so this was not too intrusive. A small bust of a rhino’s head attached to the wall was an unusual feature.

Beers on tap were London Pride, Moor Resonance, Lost & Grounded Autumn Protagonist, Anarchy Blonde Star and Doom bar, whilst a sixth pump appeared unused. Ciders meanwhile were Aspall’s Blush, Sharp’s Cold River and Cornish Orchards. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with this, but a lot of that may have been to do with the temperature, it was freezing in there. It’s got potential though, and I’d be happy to give it another go, although I might wait for the warmer weather.

The Lansdown is a back street pub that i found hard to find.
Once inside there is a roughly oblong shaped room which is bare boarded, the bar is on the mid left side, there are normal tables and chairs and some bench seating, there was a TV to the rear left showing tennis.
There is a also a separate room to the left.
There were five real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Twisted Oak Fallen Tree, which went down well, the other real ales noted were GWB Moor Bitter,Bristol Beer Factory Fortitude,St Austell Proper Job and a beer from Cheddar Ales i failed to read my noted of.
Food was being served, but did not take over the pub.
I thought this was a pleasant pub to have a drink in.

Enjoyed our visit here as we found out from someone in the Gryphon that there was a beer festival, and what a great time we had. They had a good programme set up for the beers, and some were on sale at the bar, while the rest were on stillage in a marquee in the courtyard at the rear of the building along with a pig roast in the afternoon. Really enjoyed this friendly local bar.
