The Hope & Anchor is a decent looking pub that is a walk uphill form St Georges Road.
Once inside there is an oblong shaped room to the front which runs the width of the pub,it is bare boarded, there is bench seating and normal tables and chairs.
There is a separate room to the rear right which is square shaped.
There were six real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Bespoke Saved by the Bell, which went down well, the other real ales were Bespoke Running the Gauntlet,St Austell Cornish Best,St Austell Tribute,Moles Dark and one from Boss brewery i failed to read my notes of.
The background music was crap, which was a shame as this was a decent pub.

Pub 4 on a recent crawl round Bristol and a really nice place to be. Great beer, good food and nice staff. Certainly a boozer worth checking out if you are in the city. The fish finger sarnies were particularly good.

They usually have six real ales on in here, but on my weekend visit there were "only" five on - including Cheddar Ales Gorge Best, and Abbey Ales Bellringer (£3.80 a pint, but only £3.42 with the CAMRA 10% discount). There was also a heated cauldron of mulled cider on the counter at £2.90 a time (didn't see the quantity specified), to which you can add a "shot" for another £2.50. I didn't see the full menu, but a chalkboard detailed a few items, such as the beef sandwich for £6.95 (I saw someone else order one - it looked good), jerk chicken burger for £10.95, and of all things (and not exactly pub grub), mussels in white wine, plus bread, for £6.95.

There are only standard furnishings - and no tall tables/tall stools - here. There are shelving units in the windows displaying glass and what looked like silverware, model ships, including one perched on a barrel, and a shelf above the bar counter bearing all manner of odds and ends. This is another crackingly good Bristol pub, and well worth including on a any crawl of the City.
