An interesting place. This pub looks like a former Georgian coaching house (and they claim it to be older), or a converted farm - there was a smithy at the back, even in the 30s. The main pub, the Royal Oak, was pretty much next door until after WWII. The pub is an elongated cottage, two storey, in white render with black paintwork. There is a patio and a microbrewery. It is in the GBG. The interior is an L-shape, which is part partitioned by a hearth feature. The decor is white, with some wood and there are a couple of stone fireplaces - one at either end. A collection of pump clips adorns the bar area and a few pictures and mirrors are on the walls, but it looks a little bare. There is a games area with pool and darts at one end, while a sofa area is tucked in the other. There is a TV, which had the cricket on and the outdoor area had music - inside there was none. The service was fine and it was popular with a good mix of people. Beer; usual tap stuff with Kite's Uncle Sam's Ale and CPA, as well as a decent Evan Evan's Cwrw on handpull. I visit here was all too brief - i really enjoyed it and wish i cold have tried all the beers - definitely worth a visit.
