Friends Arms / Tafarn Cyfeillion, Carmarthen

Smallish local in Johnstown, about 15 minutes or so on foot from the centre of Carmarthen. Interior looks like three rooms blatted into one. Basic decor, white embossed wallpaper, 70s fake wood beams and a cheap looking carpet. Dartboard and jukebox spotted. Rammed because of the Wales v Ukraine World Cup play-off game, curtailing further exploring (or notes!). Four pumps with three cask on, Wye Valley Butty, Thornbridge Jaipur (NBSS 3) and Moho Mantle (3.5) served-up by a friendly barmaid. Whilst not a bog-standard time to visit it certainly seemed well-used and the beer quality justifies its GBG’22 listing, making the 15 minute walk worth it. 7.5
