Now looking a lot smarter after a lick of paint on the outside, this is a very nice pub on the inside too, with some interesting art work on the walls. The public bar has a full sized snooker table as well as darts. The main lounge, which looks like it was originally two rooms, has a fireplace on the side wall at one end and one on the front wall at the other. The bar has four hand pumps, with just Tetleys and Bombardier on at the time of our visit. My mates got their pints of the latter with huge foamy heads and asked for a top up. "You don't want it with a head then", said the landlord, a little grumpily. This provoked a lively discussion once we'd moved away from the bar, and the words rip-off may have passed someone's lips. At a whopping £3.20 a pint there should have been ample profit margin, but at the same price for just half a litre...

The Sportsman is well away from the middle of woodseats and looked in need of a paint job.
Once inside the pub seemed quite big and i went in a lounge which was comfortable enough.
There was only one real ale on here which was Tetley bitter this was a fairly nice drink.
