The bar at the Heath Tavern runs along the front wall between left hand and right hand entrances. There are two banks of three handpumps, each badged with Harvey’s Best, which wasn’t in great condition. The ten or so locals in attendance were watching Nations League football on terrestrial TV and cricket on Sky Sports. The bar faces red carpeted seating areas that run around the exterior walls and there is a pool table and dartboard. The jukebox was off. The barmaid was polite, but there was a drunk nobhead showing off at the bar. This isn’t a pub that I’ll be rushing back to.

Rather oddly painted in two shades of green, but I didn't let that put me off. I had taken a wrong turning, due to recent road improvements having made my map out of date, and thought I could combine a swift half of Harveys Sussex Best with checking directions to Ditchling, Plumpton and Lewes. I was successful with both endeavours, though the bitter was nearly as old as my map and only more drinkable by a narrow margin. I didn't complain, because the only other pump clip in sight on the bar was for Old Rosie cider.

I don't know how long this has been a Harvey's pub but my ancient Sussex Beer guide shows it as a Bass Charrington pub selling just the dull Charringtons IPA.
Although it's only a short distance from the main High Street this seems to be the only pub in the vicinity. It's a corner pub with a decked patio at the front. Inside it's a single room with a fairly large island bar. There is a pool table on the immediate left. The three TVs I counted were all off plus a big screen in the rear of the pub. Also at the rear is a collection of football shirts in glass cases.
Although I spotted seven hand pumps just Harvey's Best & a house Heath Ale and Old Rosie cider were all that are available. They claim that the Heath Ale is brewed specifically for the pub. I had a pint of Best (£3.60) and Heath Ale (£3.85) both of which were in very good condition. I don't drink Harvey's beers often enough to tell if the Heath Ale is re-branded Armada but they are the same ABV.
On an early Tuesday afternoon with few in and all the TVs off I found it a pleasant enough place but may not feel the same about it with major sporting event(s) being shown. On the plus side it is a Harvey's pub and the barmaid was friendly.
