The George is now called The William Archer. It is named in memory of the former Sandwell Mayor - Bill Archer.

A 60s looking exterior that is unimpressive, dull and slightly off-putting, which, having seen it before made it the pub i least wanted to visit - however i am glag i did.
The interior is a quirky shape. It is open plan, with a pool area, dart and 'punchbag' area and a seating area. The decor is a mix of red, green, white and yellow, with a few pictures for interest. There are a few TV's, which were not on during my visit and background music was mixed and a decent level. The service was very friendly and despite being a town centre place, the clientele gave the feeling of a friendly locals place; all concerned that an elderly friend had a taxi booked to get him home, especially the gaffer.
Beer; tap stuff, with a decent Banks's MILD and Courage Directors on handpull.
A little more than a basic pub, as it has a real ale on. I really enjoyed my visit here, mainly due to the friendly people. A bit of Christmas spirit in this place.
