A bland, modern, single-story detached build, in brick, some painted white.

The interior was anathma. There were two rooms that i saw, but there may have been another. The lounge, in yellow, with high-backed chairs, was laid out for food, and empty. The bar, no Frankies Bar (at the Royal Oak - pretentious tosh) was in white, cream and flowery wallpaper - which actually then doubled for some of the tragic arty pictures around the room. A stove, with an old kettle and pot attempted to give some feel of tradition, i think, but was undone by the brown 3-piece suite in the middle of the room. The clientele were small. The service was the highpoint - a nice chap behind the bar.

Beer; tap stuff with an ok Banks's MILD. Banks's Bitter and Courage Directors provided the handpull beer.

Sorry, despite the good service and real ale, this place is a private nightmare. I really didnt like it - The Manor and even the Boat, just over the canal, are more my places.
