I got here early on a Saturday afternoon when it had a fair crowd in, many of whom were soon trekking off to the football ground. The general mix of customers was quite varied. It seems to be a rambling place and I got the impression I only saw a small part of it. The small front room that overlooks the station forecourt leads through to a smallish central bar. I did notice a door marked "Smoking Room" on the way to the Gents but I didn't check it out.
The bar has only one cask ale namely Salopian Oracle (£3.50) which was in excellent condition. I then noticed a laminated sheet advertising a January Sale of some tinned "craft" beers. I tried a Beavertown Humuloid Double IPA (£4.05 reduced from £5.40) then went for the "Buy One Get One Free" Tiny Rebel Captain Insano which was £6.10 for two 330ml tins (£5.25 a pint). I thought this was quite reasonable for a 10% abv beer that was also excellent and prevented me from moving on to another pub. It's worth a look but for me the single cask is a bit of a drawback.

I arrived Saturday evening at 5pm. The place was very full. I was easily the oldest person in the place. I could only see plenty of chrome keg? Taps. I had not done my homework. I asked for half of blond ale. Luckily I was served from the only handpump between eight keg? taps. It was very good. I think it was a Salopian but it was too full to check (the pub, not the glass!). I had no idea if any of the other beers were keg, key/Keg or key/cask. This is the problem with "craft" beers on tap where it is hard to tell which are Real Ale, especially in an over crowded noisy pub.
EDIT: (next day - memo, don't review on trains on the way home!) This pub has been transformed into a young persons nightspot. The walls are painted dark blue and there are tall table seating areas. I would like to return at a much quieter time to be able really see the place. I don't think it will be my type of pub but it really knows how to attract the punters.

EDIT: Reopened October 2017.

Under renovation and due to reopen. A big poster on the building confirms this.
A local person has informed me that it has been taken over by the owners of the nearby Vaults pub, mainly for the extra accommodation rooms but as a pub as well.
