Strongers . left this review about The Castle Vaults

The Castle Vaults has a DJ booth to the right of the entrance, and some high tables are found around the entrance, and then towards the rear, on a red tiled floor, are some tables and chairs adjacent to a dartboard that hangs on the wall. Down a couple of steps is the left-hand side of the pub where the serving counter runs up the front of the left-hand wall. Three of the four hand pumps were in use drawing an offering from Three Tuns Brewery, Hobson’s Twisted Spire and a refreshing Salopian Oracle that went down a treat. On the left wall beyond the counter is a very uncomfortable high banquette that faces a double-sided chimney breast, on the other side of which is the dartboard. In the left rear is a raised seating area and televisions throughout were airing muted Sky Sports News while some background music played. The service was polite and the beer was good, so I’d pop back in if passing, but I’d find a better chair to sit on.

Will Larter left this review about The Vaults

I called in here about a year ago with time for a swift half before my train out of Shrewsbury, a midweek afternoon when it was pretty quiet. There were three similar beers at the blonde or gold end of the spectrum - I went for the Purity Gold, which was ok but nothing special. My notes made at the time describe the pub as an "unpretentious boozer". A more recent visit on a Saturday while the rugby union was on TV found the place very busy, and three very similar beers at the blonde or gold end of the spectrum - I went for the Purity Gold, which was ok but nothing special.

Alan Hurdle left this review about The Vaults

The nearest pub to the station that is worth going in (that may change when The Station Hotel opposite the station reopens under The Vaults management).
The Salopian Oracle was on good form. Three other ales were on, one was Holdens Golden Glow, but I did not mentally record the others. The pub was busy Saturday lunch with many people making a short visit, possibly using it as the station bar like I was.
