Alan Winfield left this review about The Gate Inn

The Gate Inn is set sideways onto the road and is in a nice location next to the Retford Canal.
Once inside there is an oblong shaped room to the front with the bar facing, the floor is bare boarded, the seating is normal tables and chairs, tall tables and chairs and some settees, there was a real fire on the go to the right, the TV to the rear was showing BBC news updates, background music was playing.
I think this is an unbranded Marstons house, there were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Ringwood Razor Back, which was a decent drink, the other beers were Hobgoblin and Jennings Snecklifter.
The pub was empty on our Saturday afternoon visit.
I did'nt really take to this pub.
