This is not a brew house, but there are two local beers on the bar: Brew House New World IPA is brewed just along the road at Alnwick Brewery, and a 4.4% best bitter called Bracken is from Rigg & Furrow at nearby Acklington. Two further beers are from farther afield: Sharps Atlantic and Doom Bar (the latter with its pump clip turned around). My half of Bracken was pretty good, and might have been a 3.5 before CAMRA introduced a new rating system, now it is Good but not quite Very Good. This is an odd sort of place, with lots of fake Norman arches, fake medieval tat and fake Victorian panelling. Although this is in a distinct building next to the hotel see Ray's photo from 2014 - it is definitely the hotel's bar, with the reception desk visible through a connecting door.

Had a great time here largely due to the very friendly locals. Was on the hunt for Northumberland Brewery beer and was delighted to find that Sheepdog was on handpump. A very well kept pint of beer with great taste and smoothness. Will return.
