I wasn't expecting much in the way of an ale selection from a Greene King pub, but we were pleasantly surprised to see both Timothy Taylor Landlord and Skinner's Betty Stogs available, as well as GK IPA of course, plus Pied Bull Bitter, which is also brewed by GK of course. I didn't get to look at the menu, but food is clearly a big player here, as evidenced by the dining room added to the rear of the pub.

The exterior of the pub is very attractive, with plenty of hanging baskets on display, and a large patio area at the front with a good number of picnic benches. As well as the dining room at the back, there are several other drinking areas, with sufficient seating for those just wanting to drink. It looks as if the original pub has been expanded into adjoining buildings, plus there's a relatively new build entranceway at the front. We were very happy to have a decent pint of Betty Stogs in here. This is another pub in an area which I very rarely visit, but if I lived nearby I would certainly visit this one again.

Good country-style pub now geared up for diners rather than drinkers (shame). The beers are well kept standard Greene King offerings but the Abbot was spot-on. Didn't eat, but the overpriced menu still looks fairly standard with nothing exciting. Now quite average and nowhere near as good as it once was.

Good review from Steve of N21 below, still current.Greene King tie means unexciting ale in this gastro pub and food is pricey for the area, resulting in diners being thin on the ground and leading to slow food service, hoping you will buy another drink while you wait.Having eaten here a few times ,there is now a noticeable lowering of the food ingredient quality, probably to save money in a move that in my opinion has backfired.Shame as the interior is classy but I fear the Pied Bull's business model isnt really working.
