The Jolly Nailor has a room in the left front that has seating around the walls that face in to a central pool table. This room is served by a small section of the bar counter that continues into the main bar area to the right. In here banquette seating runs under the right hand windows opposite the counter that support standard keg alongside Madri and three hand pumps that were drawing Wainwright, Moorhouse’s White Witch and Wychwood’s Hobgoblin Gold. There are a couple of gaming machines against the rear wall that are separated by a fridge full of craft beer cans. In the rear of the pub is a wooden floored area with seating up the left and right walls to a stage area on the rear wall. Live music is held here on Fridays and a disco on Saturdays. My visit was midweek so the stage stood empty, that is apart from a dartboard. I didn’t see anything here that would have me rushing back.

No longer owned by Allgates and no longer my favourite Atherton pub. It's all gone a bit downhill in here since the change of ownership. There's now a pool table in the small room to the left, the rest is much the same as before. Only 3 handpumps now and one of those wasn't on. The choice was Hobgoblin Gold or Wainwright. The Wainwright was OK rather than good and nowhere near as well kept as at the Talbot at the other end of town. What a shame.

This is my favourite pub in Atherton. Smart pub, owned by Allgates since 2010. Three rooms, a small room to the left set up for dining, a main room with standard dining tables and chairs and a rear room. The rear room has a dartboard and pictures of bands on the wall Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd etc. 7 handpumps on the bar with 4 beers from the Allgates stable, 2 guests and a real cider. I had a pint of Ossett Maypole which was in excellent nick and was an amazing £2.10.

Not too bad a pub and much better than its neighbour over the road. 3 roomed with a small room to your left on entering, the bar are as you enter and a room to the rear that looks like its set up for live music. 7 handpumps on the bar but sadly only 4 on on this Saturday afternoon (Rat White Rat, Wainwright's, Ossett Silver King and a Welsh cider). Its a pub that's worth a visit and was very quiet this afternoon.
