Graham Coombs left this review about Duke of York

A small traditional corner pub which makes the best of its space by extending over 3 floors joined by a spiral staircase dominating the centre of the bar. Upstairs is a dining area; downstairs is an enclosed room with a Shuflboard. Draught ales were GK IPA and Yardbird, with a number of Lilley's ciders from pump and box in a mini-festival.

Greene King pub with four weak real ales. One room with a spiral staircase in the middle which led to the first floor which I did not visit. According to a wall plaque the pub was first licensed in 1722 as the Shepherd and Flock, changing to the current name in 1806.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Duke Of York

Taylor Walker pub with a distinctly compact bar at street level and other small rooms both up and down a spiral staircase (of which the one at first-floor level is bar far the best option, once you've got you drinks upstairs without spillage...). Four handpumps on the counter, with 1730 (£4.35, less 10% Camra discount), Pride, Wherry and Otter Bitter available.
