Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Iron Duke

Compact Fuller's pub with an attractive 'L'-shaped bar. Hidden away down a narrow street that is almost just an alleyway, with a narrow frontage so little natural light, but the light paintwork and sensible illumination help avoid an oppressive feel in the refurbished interior. London Pride, Seafarers and dark Star's seasonal Hop Tropic (£5.60) available from the trio of handpumps on the front part of the L-shaped counter on this revisit, with duplicated clips on the other three further back.

Rebuilt in 1866, this was once the Coach & Horses, the current name dating from only 2006, namde after the Duke of Wellington and run by Fuller’s.
The interior’s L-shaped with a modern boarded floor. The bar front is field panelled, painted dark grey. The bar back is a simple wood and mirrored affair which looks original. The walls are t ‘n’ g panelled to the dado, above which appears to be unusual Lincrusta walls painted white; there’s a white coffered ceiling with an ornate cornice. Furniture comprises some normal tables and chairs with upholstered banquettes, then tall stools to a wall mounted wide, curvy drinking ledge. Lighting comes from Victorian chandeliers and sconces and moderate music played. There’s interesting décor in the form of multiple pairs of ‘Wellington’ boots (not wellies), with the stretchers inserted; then there are multiple school photos from Wellington College.
The usual Fuller’s ales were on: ESP, Pride, Oliver’s Island, Red Fox and Hophead at a steep £2.70 a half and nice.
This place isn’t bad, but was virtually dead mid-Saturday evening, so is probably favoured by office workers, but it’s worth calling in for a decent pint of Hophead in an agreeable environment.

Tucked away down a pedestrianised street, not too far from Bond Street station, this is very much a typical London single room boozer, currently run by the Fullers Brewery. You enter through a small front porch, into an L-shaped room with the servery running along the right hand side. A couple of tables have been squeezed into the front right corner with banquettes and chairs in support and opposite there are some high tables and stools which quickly give way to a very long drinking ledge which has an unusual ‘wave’ shape to it, thanks to its need to curve around a number of pillars. The bar has a nice panelled counter that has been painted in an uninspiring shade of cream, with a lincrusta pillar splitting it along the way, a tidy mirrored bar back and lots of blackboards on the canopy. The room turns 90 degrees to the right as you reach the end of the bar, allowing a long button backed banquette to run along the rear wall, supported by plenty of sturdy looking chairs. Most walls have the same lincrusta effect seen at the bar and the front part of the pub is dominated by a series of large school year group portraits as well as shelves displaying various Wellington boots, in an oblique no to the eponymous Duke. A few more portraits and boots can be found to the rear, where a collection of more traditional Wellington themed paintings, all with fairy lights draped around their frames, can be explored. There seems to be a dining room on the first floor of the building, but I didn’t explore and didn’t spot any menus either.
Just the three ales from the Fullers stable were available on this visit – London Pride, Swing Low and ESB, with the latter costing me £4.80 for a pint. The barman was pretty friendly and there was a truly dreadful, sappy soundtrack dribbling away in the background, but the beer was in pretty good nick, so I let that one slide.
I’m not sure this pub offers a great deal more or less than many other pubs in this part of the city, coming across as functional but a little uninspiring. However, as a bolt-hole from the Oxford Street masses or as a quick stop-off for a post-work pint or two, it does the job pretty well and I certainly wouldn’t complain were I to find myself back here again.
