The Sussex, Hove

The Sussex at Hove is a large pub with a central bar that is surrounded with different seating areas. There is an area at the rear that houses a pool table and a dartboard and a terraced garden can be found out the back. There is at least one plasma screen which was off during my visit yesterday (Tuesday) evening and I didn’t notice any Sky Sports advertisements. There are three banks of three hand pumps around the bar and the selection of Harvey’s Best, London Pride and Harviestoun’s Bitter and Twisted were repeated on each. There was also a standard draught selection alongside Coors, Budweiser and Magner’s Golden Draught. Food is served daily from midday until 21:00 and there are lots of promotions around the pub. I imagine that the mains are not very expensive to start with as this place does have a whiff of Wetherspoons about it.

The Sussex didn’t really grab me and there are better pubs in the area to keep me occupied. I do not plan to revisit anytime soon.
