Well appointed one room place with bar to the left. Surprisingly it had two real ales on hand pump, but nothing above 4.5% ABV. Better than I had thought for Arnold.

The Townhouse, formerly Home bar and restraint is located two doors up from the Arnold Weatherspoon’s on the same side and has recently re opened after a large refurbishment. As you enter there is one large square room that opens up at the back with bar running along the left hand side. This place is the only one of its kind in Arnold and is positioning itself as a high bend bar for people who want to socialise in a fancier environment. Only problem with this is it totally fails in every aspect of what someone who was looking for that kind of environment would want from tack, rushed furnishings and a bad paint job to a plain and very boring interior totally void of atmosphere. The place was rightly dead on my visit and no amount of table candles or dimmed lighting is going to change that in Arnold, I mean who in Arnold is even interested in a place like his…….cleverly very few. To my surprise there were two real ales on the bar, Abbot Ale and Landlord. Seeing as Abbot is served next door at Weatherspoon’s and landlord is a far superior beer I Obviously opted for the Landlord and an expensive £3.45 (for Arnold) and it was truly dire, unconditioned to hell, tasteless, lifeless and had absolutely no head whatsoever from beer served with a sparkler! To charge higher than normal prices and position yourself as a premium venue then to serve appalling beer is frankly a joke and that’s what this place is. I won’t be going back and only ventured so I could review it, probably best avoided.

Home is a newish pub and has been open for about five years,it has one longish room with lots of pine furniture and it has got three handpumps on the bar there is a house beer called Home supreme and also Bombadier and Abbot, there is also a restaurant upstairs not really my type of plece to have a drink in but at least it sells real ale.
