Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Fierce Bar

Not been in for about 12 years when it was 57 Thomas Street, but now the southern tap for the Aberdeen brewery. Reconfigured inside with more seating (albeit at annoying high tables), but there's not a lot else you can do in such a small ex-shop unit except to put some seats out on the pavement (which has now been done). Nine craft keg taps on the counter plus eight more KeyKeg taps on small electric pumps on the bar-back. Excellent choice of ten of their own beers, five guests and four draught and boxed ciders, and in the end I went for a 'house' Dark Mild (£5.95).

Fierce Beer is a small shop converted bar with a counter on the right-hand wall facing tables up the left and against the rear wall is a booth. This bar is the tap for Fierce Brewery, hence their range of lagers are available on the majority of the nine fonts that run along the bar counter. I went for half a Fierce Rhubarb which tasted like very diluted squash. Not unpleasant, but not something I would order again. The Pomona Island Cruffatin was better. On the back bar there was some KeyKeg action with up to eight ales available and the drinks board also listed some ciders and perries. The staff were friendly enough and there was a decent atmosphere so I’d revisit if passing.

Visited on Saturday, my first visit since it changed hands. No longer a Marble bar and, sadly, the cask ale has disappeared. Because of COVID it's recommended that you book, and I'm glad we did as the place was quite busy. There were a couple of people waiting to go in, but not a huge queue. Menus are presented on the tables and it's table service from there. Last orders is currently at 9:30pm with 10pm kick-out, but the eagle eyed staff were checking if anyone wanted further drinks before last orders. I can't remember if there were any guest beers, but there were plenty from the Fierce brewery to choose from. Not particularly cheap, as you would expect, but no too wallet-emptying if you're only staying for a couple. There is a toilet downstairs and another upstairs. A second bar is upstairs, but I didn't investigate on this visit. I'll probably be back at some point, but not in a mad rush.

A shop conversion with the bar counter on the right upon entering. Two cask ales are listed on the board beside the bar - both from Marble and both very expensive: £5.60 and £4.75 per pint. There was no sign of any hand pumps or other method of dispense, nor anything to confirm that these beers were available upstairs, and being put off by both the prices and the brewery I made my selection from among the keg fonts on the bar. There are two lots of four, and I went for Magic Rock Inhaler 4.5%. Of course, this was cold, fizzy and expensive - what did I expect? To all my critics on Camra's Discourse forum, I am trying to be open minded but all it's doing is making me poorer while I drink beers that are not really to my taste, and cold and fizzy to boot. I hope you're happy now.

I agree with Mr Bundy in that this place has changed a fair bit since its refurb a few years ago. It used to be a single room with one long table and a bit of extra seating here and there. Now the space seems to have been better used. The cask ales are now on the upstairs bar, though if I remember correctly when first refurbished cask was absent for a brief period while the upstairs bar was being completed. At my lunchtime visit today there were two cask options available and a further 8 on keg. Of the keg, 5 were Marble (of these 2 were collabs) and the remaining being from Magic Rock, Neon Raptor and Perry's Cider.

I had the Lagonda IPA on cask which was very pleasant (the other available was American Amber, also by Marble). I didn't have to go upstairs to get it - I was able to order from the downstairs bar and have it brought down to me - though presumably this was because it was quiet so can't guarantee you would get the same service on a Friday or Saturday night. Next I decided to try one of the keg options, Uppe Hela Natten by Marble (but think was a collaboration with Takk Coffee House), and this was delicious. I'm sure there used to be three cask ales available and it's a shame that this appears to have been decreased to two, but I would say the keg options do compensate for that especially with most of them being from Marble.

A micropub that has 4 real ales the barrels of which are on top of the bar. Europops available. One long table plus 2 high tables to sit at. There were also 2 tables outside.

This has to be described as a micro pub, housed in what looks like an old retail outlet in today's trendy Thomas Street.Owned by the good folk of the Marble Brewery the interior is sparse with a single long bench opposite the bar capable of seating 18,two high tables in the shop window and two small tables on the pavement outside. Two barrels of Marble ales are offered while the two remaining barrels on the bar await conditioning. The choice will be drawn from their Ginger,Manchester Bitter,Chocolate,Earl Grey IPA,Dobber and Lagonda IPA with the latter two on during my trip .Although I prefer tight sparkler application ,my Lagonda IPA was still outstanding and almost impossible not to get a refill after the initial pint. There is also a good selection of craft kegs from a beer menu and several bottles of mainly Marble beers. There is a superior cheese selection and a range of cold meats to snack from, there is also a long list of flavoured teas if that is your thing.
Most definitely hip but not unfriendly, the convivial chatty atmosphere as a result of the bench seating is a feature.Lots of folk just call in for the one,and the Marble Arch is a better spot to get a fuller Marble fix,but this small GBG listed bar is worth a visit if you are around the Northern Quarter.I liked it.

A Marble outlet in the Northern Quarter proper (as opposed to the Marble Arch which a little bit out of the way). The couple of times I've been in it's been rather warm so have sat outside and watched the crowds pass by. The beer as you'd expect from Marble is very good, although can be a little flat as it dispensed from gravity and not sparklered. It is quite a small place, with perhaps seating for 15 people at most indoors. A place to pop in on a crawl but you don't tend to get many people spending a long time in here. Very close to lots of other good pubs and cheap take away joints.
