Graham Coombs left this review about Chequers Inn

A nice-looking old Edwardian pub where the interior has been knocked through into connected areas and the whole place has been painted in a rather vivid turquoise and white colour scheme. Despite a large sign claiming "local ales always available", the only cask on offer was TT Landlord, although at least it was in fair condition. Anywhere else the pub might be tolerable but it doesn't match up to most of Beeston's pubs.

Rooms to front and rear right, stage to left. Bar in the middle with a pool table to rear left. Three weak real ales on offer. Not the greatest of pubs in Beeston.

13/08/2017.
Still open, no idea how, still mostly dead. They do have the odd live band on, it was banging to the sound of Madness a few weeks ago.

Still open, with four decent ales on the bar. Still as dead as a door nail??? OK pub to start a crawl into Beeston, but not really a destination.

The Chequers is open :O)

Looks like it has been spruced up, couple of hand pulls on the bar, only one live on my visit selling a Harrington brew from Sawley.

sadly at 10pm on a Saturday, the three of us were the only customers. I do not see how any pub can stay alive with this level of patronage, but the best of luck.

Went past the pub on a bus on New Years Eve. The lights were on and there was a christmas tree in the window.....

There is a large sign on the front of the Chequers Inn declaring that it will re-open in spring 2015 when the tram works are complete. lets hope for a Star Inn style refit.....

The Chequers is a large old pub on chilwell high road and it used to be a Shipstones tied house.
This pub was opened out inside years ago and for the last few years there have been no real ales on the bar with the only bitter being John Smiths smooth rubbish.
