A very idyllic looking pub with its thatched roof. There is a sculpture of a pheasant on the roof, obviously made by the thatcher, you can see from my photos.
The interior has low ceilings, a lit log burning stove, which heated both sides of the front lounge. Five beers on handpump, London Porter, Darkstar Hophead, Seafarers, HSB and London Pride.
I am quite partial to a London Pride, so I went for that, which was in good shape at £5.20 a pint.

An old (and expensive) thatched Fuller's pub with the expected range of their beers, another pub that leans quite strongly to the food side of things, certainly on a Sunday. It was very busy but not a place I would want to linger too long.

An old place with partially thatched roof incongruously opposite some 1970’s flats. Appears to be two buildings knocked together with a fair-sized rear garden. The L-shaped interior was almost exclusively given over to dining on our Sunday afternoon visit with every single table seemingly reserved so we had to squash in at the bar with a small group of other drinking-only locals. A Fullers house, with five on - Pride, HSB, Lancer (fair), Seafarers and a guest, Liberation ale from the Channel Islands. As expected, it’s an expensive pub. Gratis crisps and cheese in bowls at the bar lightened my mood a little but it’s too upmarket for its own good, really.

Having read Mr. Boots review below describing slightly elderly patrons I thought that I might fit in here. I'm glad that I popped in as it made me feel more youthful than I am.
The pub has been well described below and I'd reiterate that the focus is on food.
On my Saturday lunchtime visit there was only one large round table in front of the bar which was available for drinking with all the other tables being occupied by diners or reserved for them. As has been mentioned, the menu isn't cheap but nonetheless it is very popular and was so busy that I headed outside to the pleasant courtyard area at the back. Worth noting as it's a pleasant place for a beer on a sunny day.
Staff were clearly busy but it wasn't making them happy and none of them managed to progress beyond an unfriendly scowl.
As you'd expect from a Fullers house, most of the beers were from their stable: London Pride, Red Fox, Gales Seafarers and HSB with Marstons Hobgoblin appearing as a guest. The Red Fox and HSB were very good although £3.80 for the 4.3% Red Fox is strong if not unexpected.
I liked this pub and would happily pop back for a well kept Fullers beer as long as I could find somewhere to sit and drink it.

Popped in on a sunny Sunday lunchtime, about 1300. Others have described pub decor & building. It is food led, but honestly what do you expect in a semi rural & affluent Hampshire market town adjacent to Waitrose?

Beer is standard Fuller's hand pull, plus usual fizz

No sports TV, no pool table , no darts, no juke box, hooray I say

We were in for food, it is not cheap in the 2 for a tenner band, looking at around 10 to 12 quid per meal for lunch, but the meals were huge, tasty and worth the money IMO

Beer is pricey, nudging £4, but given the area, again, what do you expect?

Staff were polite, helpful and clean

I will certainly return here

PS, has Sunday nibbles on the bar, crisps, cheese etc, thumbs up for that

A nice white rendered and part thatched Fullers pub, with beer garden. In the GBG 2010.

The interior is effectively open plan with a few nooks and crannies and generally in red, white and wood panel, with ceiling beams and a central brick fireplace. There are lots of tables, set up for food, but we didnt eat. There are lots of prints on the walls and ephemera, like bottles and jugs, decorate the place. The service was fine and the place, at my visit, was rammed out with a very mixed clientele. There was no music.

Beer; tap stuff, with London Pride, Bengal Lancer, Seafarer, Discovery and Gale's HSB. Sadly, i didnt have the HSB (which i have now grown to like), but the Discovery was OK (well kept), i am just not much of a Fuller's fan.

I found this place a nice pub, just a bit busy for a misery like me - I would happily return to try the HSB, having had it on the Isle of Wight since my visit here.

Formerly belonging to Bass it then became a Gales house in the great 1980s pub swap, this used to be the underage drinking pub for Romsey, it now seems changed into a quiet dining pub for slightly elderly patrons. Apart from the clink of cutlery, there was a graveyard hush in the place when I entered on what should have been a busy Saturday lunchtime. Five pulls plus standard UK kegs; casks were Pride, HSB, Seafarer, Discovery and a guest from Elgoods. My Seafarer was a bit cool but otherwise drinkable but not exciting, served by a very competent barmaid. The bar is one large room split by a chimney breast with a later extension at the back leading out into a pleasant and popular garden area. All the tables have brass numbers confirming its food led status, the seating is of course tables and chairs although there are some more private booth type furnishings at one end. Rather quiet restaurant like atmosphere, twee and middle class would sum up the place, perhaps the evenings are more like its old noisy self when a former landlord used to let two big Alsatians loose in the bar at closing time.
