Riverside dining pub. Interior has been knocked through and significantly extended in a ‘farmhouse from John Lewis’ style. All very light, airy and middle class. There are a number of sections but ultimately it doesn't hold much intrinsic charm, though the slab paving by the bar was nice. Five pumps with two on, Hogsback TEA and an apply-tasting London Pride, bleurgh. It isn't somewhere you'd stop just for a drink based on what I saw, but I guess it depends on whether the latest fly-by-night manager is any good in the cellar or not. 4.5

The Kingfisher pub will appeal to the 'older' patron, it is a traditional pub with a nice long bar, that you rarely have to wait long at. :o) They've had a change of management and a 'shake-up' since the biblical floods early in 2014 !! The food menu has changed (my friends say its not as good as before, but that is only one opinion. Last night the food I saw looked well presented & smelt good - lamb chop on bed of mash potato, with parsley &gravy, quite yummy-looking!) and the wine list has had a revamp, introducing new wines like 2x New Zealand sauvignon blancs, which is a good addition to the wine cellar. For a Friday night, it was quite busy at 8.00pm and most of the restaurant tables were full. There was still room in the 'bar area' for casual snacking & drinking, which is good when you turn up on speck! Which is why I like the Kingfisher, you can most usually find a table, or seating sufficient for your group. The Kingfisher CAN cope, where other pubs cannot cater for more than 4 people in a group. I did notice the majority of the staff now are quite young, compared with a year ago. That is not a bad thing, so long as they are trained well, keen, and know a little about 'customer service'...and the staff I saw were just that (8/10 for the new staff)! Well done Kingfisher!

Large purpose-built Vintage Inn eating house in the typical 'farmhouse' style, with lots of brickwork and distressed wood. A reasonably cosy feel and layout has been achieved however, although why do the toilets always have to be half a mile away upstairs? A nice bank of handpumps dispenses good quality if slightly uninventive beers - Doombar, London Pride, Speckled Hen, 6X and one I've forgotten; Cask Marque registered. Ouside tables look across to river and lock.

After recent flooding of Biblical proportions...the Kingfisher pub IS open for business as usual. Hurrah! One of the best pubs in the area (..if not THE best pub!) has suffered greatly with being cut-off by flood water from the swollen R.Thames, and with the nearby Chertsey Bridge having been closed on occasions. The bridge is open, the pub is open, all we need now is some sunshine to bring the custom back! I love the 'Kingfisher', long may it reign! (...that's R E I G N...not the other horrible stuff..!!) 8/10 :o)

Currently a very good pub, one of my favourites in the area. They've recently spent some money on this hostelry, building a solid looking 'canopy' outside the back, (for the nicer weather) over-looking the river, lovely on a sunny day! They've installed a new 'glass wall' as you come in the front door, to help prevent cold drafts annoying diners in that area. A large 'L'-shaped bar is good, when there's sufficient staff on duty (and I haven't noticed any staffing problems here this year...!) :o) Staff are usually quite friendly & helpful, which is good to know! I've had 3 x meals here in the last 2 months and ALL of them have been "v.good to excellent". The ample bar +restaurant area usually ensures you'll get a table or at least a seat. New chairs & furnishings recently installed. A couple of real log fires! One of which is a "walk around" fire, which you can enjoy from the other side....marvelous! (Just what you need on these cold winter evenings) :o)
I can't recommend the KINGFISHER pub quite highly enough...it's my new fav pub. I'll see you down there....! (8/10) TJ

Large pub with outside seating on the other side of the bridge from town and close to the river. Three real ales available, Sharps Doom Bar and Wadworth Horizon which we chose plus another. Good food menu, and tonight was also a pie night. The beer was good.
