Another solid pub in Henley. 5 ales on - Speckled Hen, Doom Bar, London Pride, Proper Job and Tribute. we went for the 2 from St Austell which were fine. Well worth a visit.

Pleasant enough old inn which has served travellers for centuries when Henley was an important stop on the main road south from Birmingham. The main bar remains pubby, with the dining room kept away from the action. Routine beer range, but the Tribute went down well despite the chilly conditions on an autumnal afternoon. A shilling in the gas would have helped.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Nags Head
One of the historic inns along Henley's attractive High Street, this one has been substantially refurbished in the main bar alongside the archway leading to the rear car park and beer garden. The dining room on the other side of the entrance corridor might once have been a separate building and the interior has been stripped back to bare timberwork. Five handpumps offering Doom Bar, Old Speckled Hen, London Pride and two from St Austell - Tribute and Proper Job (£3.95).

Attractive, aged and upmarket pub with quasi-rustic pretensions but lacks some intrinsic cosiness. Appears fromn the outside to be two very different buildings smakced into one. Stone flooring, coal fire and some glass and wood dividers inside. Dog friendly. Minus points for the aspect ratios being incorrectly on the telly. Four ales on – GK OSH, Bombardier, Tribute and a welcome spotting of Theakston Old Peculiar which was in fair, if unspectacular, shape. Overall, a decent enough stop without being inspiring enough to specifically seek-out again.

A basic pub very much for the locals and the bog standard comment in the review below is rather appropriate as it has a rather lavatorial purfume drifting from the rear..

Small terraced pub, with black beam and white rendered frontage.
The interior is open plan, with the wood beam look. There is a pool area and side area with old beam partitions to the right of the entrance. The main area is wood panelled, with plain red and walls decorated with a few old pictures. There is a nice stone flagged floor and nice fire place.
Service was functional and the clientele consister of a couple of young uns playing pool and keeping themselves to themselves. TV in main area had Top Gear on and there was music coming from the pool area, though not obtrusive. Whilst i felt it was a locals place, I didnt that it was unfriendly.
Beer; usual stuff, with Wells Bombardier (fine) and Deuchars IPA.
The other pubs i visited were better, mainly through beer choice. To me, this is bog standard.
