Blue Scrumpy left this review about Golden Cross

Return visit to this historic Coventry city centre pub, not far from the cathedral. It was busy and lively on our Saturday afternoon visit. There appeared to be a mix of shoppers, drinkers and those finishing their lunches.

Bar staff were amenable and had their regular beer Wye Valley HPA, alongside guests Bath Gem, Church End Goat's Milk & Titanic Plum Porter. Ciders fetched from the cellar were Weston's Old Rosie & Rosie's Pig Rhubarb. A CAMRA discount is offered.

Graham Coombs left this review about Golden Cross

Half timbered and much photographed survivor of the notorious bombing raid, including a more-modern extension housing a performance space. Unsurprisingly it has something of a touristy feel but is still quite a nice pub. Ales on pump were HPA, Bath Gem and Titanic Plum Porter, with a couple of Rosie's ciders also. Live music Saturdays.

Attractive looking corner pub near the cathedral. Golden Cross ale and Adnams Ghost Ship on which were fine. Worth a visit.

Good Beer Guide Tick #2 in Coventry.

Architecturally stunning medieval building next to the cathedral... somehow surviving the blitz.

Inside its had a posh makeover - making it near gastro.

Four to five real ale pumps on. The Adnams Ghost Ship was in slightly better than average condition.

Nothing to make this stand out.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Golden Cross

One of Coventry's finest old buildings that somehow escaped the blitz, and thankfully reopened as a pub following a prolonged period of closure. However, the interior comes as something of a surprise, as the decor is definitely modern (although, to be fair, it works quite well with the retained heritage features). There is also a discreet modern extension at the back, housing the kitchen, etc. Three of four handpumps in operation, dispensing a 'house' ale, Waggle Dance and a very good Church End Stout Coffin (£3.50).

Newly opened 2 storey pub/restaurant.

Very old timbered building there is a bar on both floors. The beams are painted a neutral green and there is a modern staircase. Not sure these features work, but the building still possesses a lot of class, there is a large chimney near the bottom bar and there are more beams than you can shake a stick at! The upstairs floor is very wobbly and the walls lean out to the street.

3 real ales available and its a very nice place.
