Golden Cross, Coventry

Return visit to this historic Coventry city centre pub, not far from the cathedral. It was busy and lively on our Saturday afternoon visit. There appeared to be a mix of shoppers, drinkers and those finishing their lunches. Bar staff were amenable and had their regular beer Wye Valley HPA, alongside guests Bath Gem, Church End Goat's Milk & Titanic Plum Porter. Ciders fetched from the cellar were Weston's Old Rosie & Rosie's Pig Rhubarb. A CAMRA discount is offered.

Half timbered and much photographed survivor of the notorious bombing raid, including a more-modern extension housing a performance space. Unsurprisingly it has something of a touristy feel but is still quite a nice pub. Ales on pump were HPA, Bath Gem and Titanic Plum Porter, with a couple of Rosie's ciders also. Live music Saturdays.
