The flagship pub of the Crafted Projects group, with an emphasis on craft ales albeit with premium pricing. My main gripe is their decision to paint all the interior in a dingy dark green, which makes the place feel terribly gloomy, although it does have a fair amount of arty lighting. Quite full of trendy types, but I did find a little room at the back which was less busy though. Perhaps a bit overdone, but the range of 9 unusual ales was creditable if pricey.

Lady Grey's was our final stop on a night out in Newcastle, as so often is the case when we visit, due to its 2am closing time.

As we approached, we could see that the pub was packed, with many spilling out onto the pavements despite it only being a Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

The central bar has seating either side, but it was standing room only for late arrivals such as ourselves. Nevertheless, service was swift and the beer range was good as usual.

The regular beer is Ridgeside Stage Door Blonde. Guests were Atom Retrograde Motion, Almasty Green Pale, Anspach & Hobday The London ESB, Fallen Platform C, Arbor I Speak For The Trees, Cullercoats NE30 & Thornbridge Made North. They no longer appear to serve a real cider.

As previous people have said, it is dark inside. We mainly use this pub as a late night venue. But it's good enough to head to for a drink at any time of the day.

a really trendy little pub which is rather dark inside - black paint is clearly very popular here. Eight obscure ales available and tasters are offered for punters that look befuddled, obviously i fell into this category. Charcuterie and artisan cheese are available as well as copies of the Times and the Guardian. oh, and the Mirror as well.

This is a smallish roughly square room with a central bar and split into areas. It was quite busy on my Friday afternoon visit but I found a seat. It was more basic than the nearby Fitzgerald outlets but pleasant enough. There was music playing but I couldn't hear what it was above the noise.
The bar has eight hand pumps which I noted had beers from Errant, Mordue, Arbor, Swannay and Tyne Bank but I went for the Vocation Chop & Change (£3.50) which was excellent.
It's well worth a visit in a real hot spot for GBG listed pubs.

This is a lovely city centre pub that has been given a classy makeover - and not necessarily of the type you'd associate with your typical alehouse. According to the old-timer I got chatting to at the bar, this used to be a bit of a rough and ready fighting man's pub called The Adelphi, but after falling into disrepair and a period of closure, it was eventually taken over by a local company who also run the nearby 'Pleased To Meet You' pub. The pub has a U-shaped layout, wrapped around a circular central servery. The bar has been carefully attended to, with a lovely dark wood counter and a smart bar back with some wonderfully decorative shelving units. The walls are predominantly bare brick and the ceiling has interesting wood panelling, giving the place a good traditional feel. To the left there is a nice bit of partitioning in decorative woodwork which slightly screens a wood panelled space with decent seating options. The majority of the seating around the perimeter of the pub is in the shape of comfy looking banquettes, whilst a few standard tables and chairs, mainly towards the rear, fill out the rest of the space. Some large cabinets on the right and rear walls house impressive collections of wine and beer bottles and I also noticed a few stuffed birds of prey on some high plinths in the rear right corner. A good collection of pump clips could be viewed around a number of the walls, which hints towards the fine beer range you're likely to find.
There is a pleasing row of handpulls mounted in prime position in the centre of the bar counter, and these were dispensing Mordue Northumberland Blonde, Cromarty Red Rocker and Happy Chappy, Swannay Island Hopping, Credence IPA, Fell Tinder Box IPA, Hadrian Borders Ouseburn Porter and Out There Angara. This struck me as a very good range of beers from the North East and I was glad to find that the Angara was served in tip-top condition. An eclectic keg range included beers from the likes of Camden, La Chouffe and Lancaster as well as several cider options. The staff here were all very friendly and chatty and couldn't have been any more helpful, offering customers tasters and imparting their knowledge on all things beer related.
I thought this was an outstanding pub and a great place to start a weekend long crawl around Newcastle. The place is smart, comfortable, friendly and has some excellent local beers for you to get through. I loved it here and stayed longer than intended, thereby cutting down my planned pre-match pub crawl, which I didn't regret for one minute. An excellent place that should be on any itinerary.

A muted looking thing from the outside but within is a nicely crafted modern alehouse. U-shaped bar with fantastic centrepiece, an antique glass cabinet housing whisky. To the right is exposed brick walling and an inbuilt glass cabinet housing what looked to be hundreds of empty green bottles. To left is a button back sofa and through a gantry entrance an enticing painted wood panelled seating area. In the main bar it’s dark green and black shades - sounds odd but it works. Papers available. Eight pumps at the bar with an excellent selection from around the UK. My Weird Beard Dark Hopfler was in good form. Also an impressive keg selection including Bee Sting Perry as well as a good fridge selection. Available beers are listed on a wall mounted wooden board with ales amusingly titled 'on the pull'. Superb professional barmaid, working all the punters with chat and who gave me the low-down on the whisky cabinet - apparently it was bought at auction and didn't fit the space so the legs were sawn off! I thought this really was a little cracker and worthy of top table listing in the city centre. A double-header with the nearby Bacchus could seriously sort you out for an evening. 8.5

Called in again for a couple of beers on the way back to our hotel. Good selection of ales and a pleasant atmosphere. Friendly bar staff and customers. Always worth paying a visit here.

Large horseshoe shaped bar as you enter giving two distinct areas to the left and right. The area to the left has a massive chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The whole pub is wood panelled and has dark green seating including some Chesterfield sofas. Quite food led up until about 7 and then more of a drinkers pub. There's also a DJ on some nights. When we called in on a Sunday night it was quite busy in a peaceful sort of way. Decent selection of real ale including beers from Mordue, Wylam, and Hadrian & Border. The pint I had was in good nick and the other half liked the red wine. Not a place that we'd stay all night but we'll happily call in again next time we're in Newcastle.

decorated in mock Victorian style but with a trendy modern touch, a bit of an upmarket alehouse type of place. Six pulls on the gorgeous 3/4 island bar, mainly beers from local micro and very well looked after. Furnishing is traditional and the decor includes some taxidermy, the light fittings are a bit inappropriate but the ceiling is nice.

Our first visit to this pub and we found an interesting beer selection. We had one from a new brewery, Three Kings called Lady Grey's Anniversary Ale brewed to celebrate the pub's first year. It was a good beer, but the Arbor Stella, a single hop beer at 6.5% took a little more getting down. Anyone doing a Newcastle crawl of Good Beer Guide pubs should pop in here as it is not far from Bacchus.
