Still an attractive building from the outside, but the pub inside is run down, quiet and gloomy. There are two rooms, with a pool table in one and two darts boards in the other. A couple of disused hand pumps on the bar in the latter - on enquiring, they haven't done cask ale for some time as "nobody asks for it, but when we had it we didn't advertise it". One of the keg roundels had M&B Mild, but they didn't have this either: just lager, keg cider, Guinness, John Smiths and Worthington. I went for the last named as I had drunk quite a decent half of this at a pub in Bradford in January, but this was too cold and had too much gas; not a pleasant drink.

The Packet Inn is situated just off the town centre and it is next to a canal but there are no views of this from the pub.
Once inside there were two rooms that i noticed,there was a lounge to the left and a bar to the right i had a drink in the bar this room was fairly basic it was carpeted and had bench seating with normal tables and chairs,there was a pool table to the rear of this room.
There was one pump on the bar this had a beer called Iron Man which was a very nice drink at 4.2.% but there was no indication of who brewed this beer,there was an out building which had a sign on it saying Grafton brewery so the beer could have been brewed by them.
The pub was fairly busy with older locals who seemed friendly enough.
