Alex Conway left this review about The Rose Inn

The Rose is a huge former Home ales pub mounted on a hill next to the main road and is a former Home Ales joint. From the outside it looks like a bit of a spit and sawdust place and quite dilapidated as it is in the not so easy on the eye post war style. however upon entering like a lot of pubs I did on this evening it was a hell of a lot more modern on the inside than the outside suggests. I entered into one bar room with the lion’s share of the punters who were in a small corner watching a TV. Passing through into the main bar room with the longer of the two bars is another large room with bench seating all around and lots of tables and chairs. This room was massive but empty aside from an old man watching coronation street. The other room I saw was a very large games room with pool and darts and some toilets but I suspect there is more room to the back of the pub and possibly a function room of some kind. We sat in the middle room after buying our drink after we were faced with the mammoth choice of Worthington’s cream flow rubbish or Tetley Mild. We had the mild at a good price of £2.20 and this went down ok and a hell of a lot better than the Hardy and Hanson’s cool from few pubs earlier. This pub has a bit of a rough reputation but I did not see that when I visited, more a quiet place frequented by lolly old men off the estate but I guess this could change on a weekend. Not a great find and the beer was very limited but I always like to see places like this stay open, if only they could get their heads about what attracts people to pubs rather than just accepting the custom from local residents I think a lot more would flourish. Probably won’t ever come here again but I hope it lasts. Very average and not worth a special journey.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Rose Inn

The Rose is a typical suburban pub that was built by Home Brewery after the war,the pub is situated on the edge of the notorious broxtowe estate.
Once inside the pub had three rooms with a basic bar, smoke room and comfortable lounge, the pub used to be an Home Ales tied house and there were only keg beers on the bar here,on the few occasions i have been in here i have had the Home bitter which was a pretty poor drink.
The Rose gained a rough reputation like most pubs in this area of Nottingham and i dont know what beers this pub now has on or if it is still up and running.
