Alan Winfield left this review about Rose & Crown

The Rose and Crown was a corner pub that was a short distance from canning circus.
This pub was an Home Ales tied house and once inside there was a large basic bar at the front of the pub and a comfortable lounge at the back.
We would use this pub quite often when doing the alfreton road crawl or on the way to goose fair, there were two real ales on the bar and the Home bitter was a very nice drink the other beer was Home Ales mild.
This pub is still standing but has been closed for several years,it was converted into flats but the pub now looks in a very bad state.
I first went in this pub in 1981.
