Bucking Fastard left this review about The Queens Head

An old building on a busy road with a very large car park and not far from J26 on the M1.You enter into a low ceiling small serving bar with a restaurant section to the immediate left set up for diners. To the right is a square room with exposed stonework and a log burner which is a comfortable place to sit with a pint but make sure you dont miss a rear snug behind the bar with a pleasing banquette,a discrete place the drink.Food is popular at lunchtime and I had a very good tuna jacket with salad for £5.50.Other food options include pub grub staples but there was a long list of daily specials which looked interesting had I wanted a larger meal,at quite reasonable prices.
Although the exterior signage is Everards ,only their Tiger (in good nick) was available from the 4 handpumps with the other options on my trip being Adnams Broadside,Lincoln Green Spring Green and Castle Rock Elsie Mo.There is a substantial beer garden with a section for childrens slides and a bouncy castle.
I thought the clear demarcation of dining and drinking areas was very sensible ,I will forgive the piped commercial pop station music in the restaurant and overall its quite a charming interior with decent ale.I would certainly visit again when in the area and it's so much better for food than a motorway service station if you are hammering up the M1.
