Alan Winfield left this review about Lord Nelson

The Lord Nelson was a Kimberley tied house that was built in the 60s to serve the notorious Basford flats complex, this was a large estate of deck access flats and tower blocks, the sort of city scene i love looking at.
Once inside the pub had two separate rooms, there was a smartish lounge and a basic bar which had a pool table and darts board.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Kimberley bitter this was a fairly decent drink.
The flats did'nt last more than 15 years, but the Lord Nelson and Horse and Jockey on the other side of the estate did survive the demolition of the flats complex.

Closed. The typical Victorian tower brewery building just up the road was, until taken over by Home in 1914, the premises of W. H. Hutchinson & Sons Ltd. The building across from that still says "Basford Maltings".
