A small very nice pub with six pumps serving a range of local and national casks and national kegs. There is one larger room with the counter and a smaller snug to the right. The snug is delightful with bench seating wood and cast iron tables, decorated with old photos adverts and prints, the old Shipstones pub sign is also hung in here.

The Falcon is a very long standing former Shipstons pub in Canning Circus that closed for a number of years but reopened around 2012 as a real ale pub and has thrived in its surroundings. One of the smaller pubs on the Canning circus run with one medium sized room with a separate “snug” just off the main room, both have hard wooden floors and open fires in winter. The snug retains the former pub sign with Shipstons branding as homage to the p0nce great brewery which I think is a nice touch. The bar is facing you as you enter and is lined with an array of hand pumps that on my visit featured Oldershaw Heavenly Blonde (£3.30) Dancing Duck Dark Drake (£3.40) Abbeydale Mandarin Claw Of Death (£3. 30) Costal Hop Monster (£3.20) Belvoir Star(£3.30) Oakham Citra (£3.40) and Lily’s Mango Cider (£3.40). The Star was in good nick as was my friends Dark Drake and we enjoyed some pub games in the snug in front of the open fire on a freezing November evening. This is a very old fashioned boozer that is keeping away from the glitzy town pub act and sticks to no nonsense good beer in a minimalist surrounding which I like. It is surprisingly probably the priciest overall of the Canning Circus pubs but not offensively and not compared to some town boozers. Highly recommended and an essential part of the Canning Circus crawl. Along with the new Beerheadz micro pub I regard this to have the best beer quality in Nottingham City but i much prefer the old school boozer atmosphere in here.

There was a very good selection of ales on here - the Oakham pair of Citra and Below Zero; Oldershaw Heavenly Blonde; Castle Rock Snowhite; Titanic Plum Porter; and Kelham Island Pride of Sheffield. All the ales were between £3.30 to £3.50 a pint.

This had all the look of a locals' pub, I guess being far enough from the town centre to avoid the real crowds. It's still the down to earth pub described by the previous reviewer, although I thought the prices were fairly cheap - but that's compared to London. I saw burgers advertised (but not sampled), and a sign pointing to an upstairs room. This is yet another good pub in this corner of Nottingham that I'll probably return to at some stage.

Now that the Sir John Borlase Warren round the corner is an outlet for Lincoln Green beers this pub is now a free house but I'm not saying they would never serve Lincoln Green beers. By all accounts the parting of the ways was wholly amicable. As noted below this is a small traditional bar with a small snug on the right. The original Shipstone's sign in the snug is a timely reminder of how Greenall's the worst ever UK regional brewer wrecked that fine company.
On my visit one of the eight hand pumps was unclipped and another had a strawberry cider. The rest had Milton Pegasus, Abbeydale Larceny, Oakham Inferno, Nutbrook Black Beauty, Black Country Chain and Welbeck Red Feather. I went for the Abbeydale Larceny which I had noted as £2.95 but whether that included the 20p CAMRA discount or not I can't recall!
I also tried one of their chunky round cheese rolls (£1.75) which was just as good as the excellent quality beer.
I can't think of anywhere in London where there are pubs as good as the four here at Canning Circus in such close proximity.
It is GBG 2015 listed and I hope it remains so.

The Falcon Inn is an excellent traditional pub in Canning Circus - an area already noteworthy for a cluster of excellent pubs. The pub reopened as a freehouse in 2013 after a short period of closure, and has built up a link with the local Lincoln Green brewery, showcasing a wide range of their products. On my recent visit, the handpulls were dispensing Lincoln Green Marian, Tuck, Hood and Archer, as well as Abbeydale Daily Bread, Brakspear Triple B, Welbeck Abbey Kaiser and one real cider. The chatty landlady poured me an excellent pint of the Archer and I overheard a group of gents at the bar extolling the virtues of their respective pints.
The entrance leads you into a surprisingly compact bare boarded room with windows which label it the 'Vaults'. It's a pretty cosy space with an angular servery in the rear right corner boasting a smart counter and mirrored bar back. Benches run around the perimeter of the room, supplemented by some nice padded chairs and most customers on a chilly winter's evening had gravitated towards the lit fire in the rear left corner. A few paintings and etchings filled up the wall space and there are several boards listing the beer range and details of cobs which can be purchased for £1.75. To the right, there is a tidy snug type space with its own fireplace (unlit, hence the lack of people in there). Padded benches and standard chairs serve the limited number of tables within and the pub's marvellous old Shipstone's sign takes pride of place on the end wall. Books and dominoes were stacked up in the window sills and posters advertised an eclectic range of entertainment options, ranging from live music to fine dining nights. A pretty mellow soundtrack played throughout my stay and a steady stream of customers saw the place gradually fill up from almost completely empty during my relatively short stay.
This is a fantastic little bolt hole and a really welcoming place where I instantly felt right at home. It strikes me as the sort of traditional pub that would generate a great atmosphere on a busy evening and is a must do for anyone exploring the excellent pubs at this end of town.

What a gem, found it hard to leave this one last Friday eve. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and seating comfortable. There was an open fire at one end near the small bar and a log burning stove in the snug. The manager told us that the original pub sign was rescued from a skip, when the pub was under refurb. Obviously the builders didn't think it had any intrinsic value. It's now displayed with pride of place in the snug.
Seven hand pumps and one cider. We went for the Lincoln Green, Hood, Marion and Scarlett.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Falcon Inn

The Falcon is a fairly small pub that is situated in the middle of canning circus.
The pub used to be a Shipstones tied house with a very nice drink of Shipstones bitter and mild on the bar.
The pub has now been reopened by Lincoln Green brewery, once inside the pubs layout is the same as it was years ago, there is a smallish room through the entrance with the bar facing, the seating is bench type and small tables and stools, there was a real fire on the go in the rear left corner, there is a small snug to the right which had tables and chairs in it and a real fire on the go,there was also a large old pub sign of the Falcon when it was a Shipstones house on the wall, which brought back a few memories.
There were about 8 pumps on the bar, with five beers from Lincoln Green,i had a drink of Lincoln Green Marion which was a really nice drink and cheap at £2.60 a pint, the other beers from Lincoln Green were Hood, Tuck, Sherrif and Longbow, there were two guest beers on one from Welbeck Abbey and St Austell Tribute.
This is a really nice pub now, with a good choice of real ales, well worth a visit if in the area.

The Falcon has re-opened after quite some time being closed. Still small and smelling a bit of fresh paint, the interior is clean but sparce. Several ales on the bar including those from local brewer lincoln Green. Lets hope the Falcon stops open longer this time and goes from strength to strength.
