Another Chantry pub, just along the street from the New York Tavern, this pub has a lovely exterior and an equally appealing interior with plenty of tiling. There are a number of different sections. One had a TV which was fairly popular on our Saturday evening visit, as pubs were preparing for the England football match. In fact, as we left, the front door of the pub had been closed to ensure it didn't get too busy.
Ales on were all from Chantry. Diamond Black Stout, Special Reserve & Steelos are regular beers. In addition, they had Cashmere Time, Wentworth Red & Mighty Millers. Similar to the New York Tavern, the 2 real ciders were both from Broadoak - Old Bristolian & Mango Cider.
Plenty of staff were on, but they weren't quite as friendly as others.

What a great pub! Fantastic tiled facade, and the interior is on Camra's heritage pubs list. Usually with a full range of Chantry beers, still all priced at £2.50 per pint, even the Special Reserve 6.3%. Service is always friendly and the only time I ever had a beer that wasn't tip-top was when business was slow because of the Covid-19 restrictions. There are bands on most weeks, either on the small stage in the back bar, or on the larger stage in the back yard which has a marquee-type covering. (I saw a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band there in 2019 who were really good.) Looking forward to going there again as things open up this spring.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Cutlers Arms
Quite a grand pub, formerly a Stones house as evidenced by some of the decorative stonework and coloured glazing (and still in much better shape than the long-closed next-door Alma). The 'L'-shaped main bar (with an extra side seating area and small stage) and more comfortable (but empty) lounge bar have retained a number of heritage features too, although much of decor is otherwise quite plain. Rear patio terrace. Now run by Chantry Brewery, I found a full range of nine ales from a total of 13 handpumps, including a decent Diamond Black Stout (£2.50).
