Plug & Taps, Preston

Tidy micro-pub pub near the severing ring-road but just far enough away for the pavement tables to avoid disruptive noise from the passing traffic. There are no tables inside, with all seating on padded high stools beside wall-mounted shelves. With two of the four handpumps in use, I found a pair from Rivington - Beach House and Walking in Circles (£3.70), together with ten well-chosen craft keg beers in a wide range of styles and strengths from taps on the bar-back.

This was my last pub of the day, the 14th if my notes are correct, and as Friday afternoon approached evening the pubs were getting busier. This narrow micropub was no exception, and there were even a few sitting outside where there are a couple of tables. As it was the train next for me, I decided to go for the strongest beer on the keg taps, a 10% abv imperial stout from Cloudwater called The Act of Chewing, which set me back all of £3.40 for a third of a pint. Corridor like micro with four cask and 10 keg taps plus bottles, cans, wines and spirits. Furnished with stools and shelf it has some nice photos as decor. One of the best places in Preston for beer drinkers.
