The Henry Bell (JD Wetherspoon), Helensburgh

A well-run Wetherspoons in an old furniture shop, which extends back quite some way. The various areas have a slightly different feel and seem to attract differnt clientele. Usual range of beers, food etc. Cask Marque listed at time of visit.

Henry Bell (1767-1830) is credited with pioneering the development of Europe's first passenger steamboat service with a paddle steamer named The Comet which ran between Greenock and Glasgow. On approach the pub looks quite small but on entry you realise it is quite lengthy.There was the standard cask beers on the bar and a few booths up and down and strangely a large selection of old TV screens on the walls which possibly might have been obtained from the closed Logie Baird pub across the road.
