Toby Carvery Quinton, Birmingham

A massive, detached, Toby Carvery eatery with attached accommodation known as the Innkeeper's Lodge and a beer garden. The whole area was swallowed under housing in the 1930-50s and this was once the Holly Bush Inn, with its own bowling green. It is in the typical mock-Tudor style of the period, being wood beam and white, with dormer windows and tall brick chimney stacks. It is another functional open-plan building, with a central bar and dinind areas all around, which is in patterned wallpaper and a mushroom colour. There is a 'bar' area tucked up the corner that is in green and coffee. There are a few fireplaces and some old local photos are mixed with ones of Churchill, for some reason. The bar has a TV, which had the news on and the background music was very soft. I really found this Toby soulless, especially as the beer choices were Marston's EPA and Pedigree - along with the usual tap stuff - so i just had pop. I didn't eat, which i know is the purpose of the place, but I can't really say i would seek it out to do so. I weep for the Holly Bush.
