Turing Tap, Manchester

The Oxford is a large corner establishment sitting on the Oxford Road halfway between Manchester University and the Royal Infirmary, and close to The Academy. Therefore it is popular with students and workers from the Infirmary. Both inside and outside it has the air of a Wetherspoons. A fairly big expanse of a building that looked like it was formerly something else other than a pub, plastic food menus on every table, lots of cheep drinks offers everywhere, and a chain pub feel. It is not a ‘spoons but some other type of chain pub, and the only significant difference I could see was that the drinks offerings were more standard and less choice than your average spoons. But other than that it was difficult to tell. There were four hand pumps on the bar but only one if these seemed to be in operation when I visited, which I guess is due to not having the throughput from the target demographic. I would imagine that this venue is very good if you are a student (especially one in the close by halls) or a worker at the MRI, or going to the Academy.
