The Horse Shoes Inn, Alnwick

Lovely looking country inn, situated just off the main road through Rennington. Entrance in Covid times is through the restaurant area to the left-hand side of the building. Exit is from the bar on the right-hand side (as you look from the front). We were greeted by the landlord who advised us that there were no available tables, unless we wanted to sit outside. We didn't, as it was a little chilly. Ironically, he was standing next to 2 vacant tables, with others in the dining area also about to leave. Whilst the bar was supposedly full, there were certainly spare seats in the dining room, which he eventually allowed us to sit in begrudgingly. Strangely enough, locals arrived shortly after and were seated in the bar without any trouble. The 2 ales are both from Hadrian Border - Farne Island Pale Ale & Tyneside Blonde. A pub with much potential. But it's a shame they don't offer a warmer welcome to visitors.

Visit this friendly village local regularly. Hosts MarK & Louise and their team make you very welcome with great real ales and good pub food with an ever changing specials board. Good food well cooked with a local feel: just love the Northumbrian lamb :=). Wonderful to sit in the beer garden to watch the world go by or the sun set or sit inside and keep snug around the fire in the winter. Loads of parking and good mixture of friendly vilage locals and tourists.
