The Brandon Works (JD Wetherspoon), Motherwell

This is a fairly nondescript rectangular room set on the ground floor of a hideous mid 20th century office block. There's a raised area to the right and that's about as exciting as it gets. It's not listed as a Lloyds in the most recent JDW directory. The beer choice from ten hand pumps was as uninspiring as the rest of it with three available soon, Abbot, Hobgoblin and Truman's Lazarus doubled up and Stewart's Edinburgh Festival. I went for a bottle of Green Devil then headed back towards Glasgow.

Large 'spoons housed in a nondescript modern building. Dark interior with various seating areas. Decent selection of real ale from ten handpumps, including Houston Peter's Well (shown on the pump clip at £2.29, but sold at £1.99).

The place is advertised as a Wetherspoon on the front signage. But the title on this website shows it as a Lloyds No1 and due to the amount of televisions in the place this is certainly true. Basically, a Wetherspoon with music and or televisions. I visited in the evening when Andy Murray produces a late surge to beat Gael Monfils in five sets and reach the French Open semi-finals. So the place was very busy. Plenty of real ale pumps but at the time only 4 were on. Still, great tennis and a great pint.
