Aqualung . left this review about The Brandon Works (JD Wetherspoon)

This is a fairly nondescript rectangular room set on the ground floor of a hideous mid 20th century office block. There's a raised area to the right and that's about as exciting as it gets. It's not listed as a Lloyds in the most recent JDW directory.
The beer choice from ten hand pumps was as uninspiring as the rest of it with three available soon, Abbot, Hobgoblin and Truman's Lazarus doubled up and Stewart's Edinburgh Festival. I went for a bottle of Green Devil then headed back towards Glasgow.

The place is advertised as a Wetherspoon on the front signage. But the title on this website shows it as a Lloyds No1 and due to the amount of televisions in the place this is certainly true. Basically, a Wetherspoon with music and or televisions. I visited in the evening when Andy Murray produces a late surge to beat Gael Monfils in five sets and reach the French Open semi-finals. So the place was very busy. Plenty of real ale pumps but at the time only 4 were on. Still, great tennis and a great pint.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Brandon Works (Lloyds No1)

Large 'spoons housed in a nondescript modern building. Dark interior with various seating areas. Decent selection of real ale from ten handpumps, including Houston Peter's Well (shown on the pump clip at £2.29, but sold at £1.99).

A typical modern pub conversion which is more or less a clone of hundreds of others around the country. It has all the good points of the species with cheap food and drink, lots of space and no music, but suffers from the usual drawback of being rather bland. There were five real ales on tap, including Abbot Ale, Mortality and Ruddles Bitter, plus a wide selection of keg beers and lagers. Nothing at all to complain about, except a strong sense of déjà vu.
