1807, Linlithgow

The Rose and Crown was pretty empty when I was in there a couple of weeks ago. It was a bit of a neck strain watching the football from the sofa in front of the plasma screen, but the lager was good and the staff were very friendly. The place is very bright and airy, but it does feel like a small bar attached to a restaurant, rather than a pub with an eating area. A good place for a drink and some food, but not one for a good old knees up.

This Belhaven leased pub which has recently been rumoured locally to be going through hard times closed its doors on 20 February 2010. Reading this week's local paper Belhaven have turned down the opportunity to make a statement on the situation and future of the pub. One week on and Belhaven confirm the pub's closure. Lo and behold the pub reopens a day after publication - believe that another local licensee has taken it on a 3 month lease.
