The Henry Addington, Canary Wharf, E14

Probably as "traditional" a pub as you will find in this area. Nicholson's pub serving 9 real ales and food.

I was surprised that this place had such a large selection of ales being in this area, that was until I noticed the Great British sausage menu up on the wall and realised that this is a Nicholson’s’ pub. I’ve found this chain to usually cater for tourists in traditional London pubs so it was a nice surprise to find this bright and fresh bar like establishment. It is long and thin with a water side location that has outside seating, as do all of the bars along this stretch. Inside, there are a couple of plasma screens that were showing the world cup, but I didn’t spot any Sky Sports signs and the match being shown was muted giving way to some low background music. The ale roll call during my recent weekday visit was Springhead’s Roaring Meg, Deuchars, Old Speckled Hen, Doom Bar, Pride and Landlord. There is also a good selection of standard and premium draught products and I enjoyed a decent pint of Guinness that was served by a very friendly barman. Along with the seating outside there is also a BBQ which was covered, but I imagine that it is used on Wednesdays when this pub hosts their sausage and ale tasting evenings. There is also a normal menu for other times and food is served all day. This area isn’t somewhere I plan to visit again as the pubs/bars aren’t great, but if I do find myself here I will make a point of popping in for another pint.
