Hoxley & Porter, N1

This is a dimly lit long and thin bar with indifferent staff and a standard draught selection alongside Peroni. My Guinness was good, but it took an age to be served even though I was the only person standing at the bar on a quiet weeknight visit. There is a strange tunnel leading from the entrance to halfway up the pub which had some velvet rope used by bouncers to form queues so I'd imagine this place gets busy at the weekend when there must be music and a late license. There is a projector screen that was rolled up on the back wall during my visit, but I can't imagine this place showing any sport. These Grand Union chain pubs are starting to pop up everywhere now and every time they do it is a sign that a proper pub has just died.
