The Peaky Blinder, Birmingham

A place that has gone through a few names - I remember it as Saramoons in the 80s, but has also had its troubles. Now called the Confession Box, the place is a part of a 1960/70s brutal rebuild of the Dale End area. The Gothic look and dark facade has given way to a white exterior that is far more welcoming unless you are vampire or an Emo. The interior is pretty much a square room, with a central support column. It is quite gloomy, as it is lit by spotlights. The decor is cream (i think), with some patterned wallpaper and there are a few mirrors and beer posters on the walls. There are a couple of TVs, showing sport, and there is a jukebox, but this wasn't on as some bloke in a red suit (not Santa) was acting as a DJ in the corner of the room. Bench seats are around the side and a few tables are present. The floor is tiled. The service was fine and the clientele quite mixed. Beer; just the usual taps, with no MILD or real ale. I had Guinness, which was OK as Guinness is. Lacks my personal choice of drinks, but i was happy to nip in for one.
