The Prince of Wales, Didcot

Located opposite Didcot Railway Station is the Prince of Wales that was unsurprisingly busy during a recent early Thursday evening visit. This is a Greene King establishment so IPA and Old Speckled Hen were both available alongside the seasonal Bonkers Conkers. For those that are averse to GK ales or generic lager there is a forth hand pump that was drawing Thwaites’ Wainwright. I didn’t look in a menu, but food is available from sometime after 10:00, when the pub opens, until 21:00. Plasma screens are located throughout and Sky Sports was muted in favour of some background music. I found it strange that lots of empty tables had reserved signs on them until I spotted an advertisement for the weekly Thursday evening quiz, which must be quite popular. Outside the front of the pub some picnic tables line the exterior and there is a beer yard out the back with more picnic tables, some of which are found under a jumbrella. I found the service to be very friendly and I would pop back in here if I had a long wait for a train, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for a revisit.
